Collin MaySenior Counsel
Collin (he, his, him) is a private wealth and corporate services lawyer specializing in estate planning and administration, corporate and commercial transactions, and corporate governance and risk management. Collin also specializes in municipal law and agricultural law. Prior to joining DD West, Collin worked for large and medium-sized firms in Toronto and Calgary, as well as operating a solo practice focusing on estate planning and succession.
Collin’s wills and estates practice includes advising clients on estate planning, family business succession planning, farm and agricultural succession, and drafting family and inter-vivos trusts. On the corporate side, his work focuses on corporate and commercial transactions, as well as advising corporate boards and directors on governance issues, directors’ duties and liabilities, and matters related to enterprise risk management. Collin acts for municipal corporations on a range of matters including land transfers, development and planning, annexation, and municipal governance.
In addition to his legal practice, Collin served on the Board of Directors of Farm Credit Canada from 2013 to 2017 and was a representative of the federal Minister of Justice on the Alberta Judicial Advisory Committee from 2011 to 2016. Collin currently serves as a Commissioner of the Alberta Human Rights Commission and as a member of the Provincial Council of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
